Wirral CP Group

Just in case any of my readers are planning to be visiting the Wirral this coming weekend (They are commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic on the River Mersey -- loads of warships in the docks to photograph!), you may wish to spend the afternoon of Saturday 25th in the company of the Wirral group.

1pm to 4pm at St Chad's Church Hall, Roslin Road, Irby, Wirral, CH61 3UH.

It's International Nerds Day - otherwise known as Geek Pride Day - (It's true! Honest!), so I shall be awarding a prize to the picture voted the most Nerdy!

Congratulations then to Victoria:-

Just a quick email to let you know the Coloured Pencil Painting of the Wolves that was in the finals for The Wildlife Artist of the Year received a Commendation in the World Mammal Category. I am so thrilled especially as its a coloured pencil work !!! I have added the image as you requested last time we spoke. I hope it will be of interest to the other coloured pencil members.

A REMINDER!

New Local group - North Yorkshire

UKCPS Signature Member, Lesley Sharman, has been in touch to tell about a new Local Group recently formed in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire:

We've now had a first meeting and have set up a group. It all went swimmingly. Everybody got on well together, and are very keen.

There are six of us at present: one's not yet a UKCPS member but is an excellent CP artist and I expect she will join soon.

We've called ourselves the UKCPS Dales Group.
We've arranged to meet on the last Monday of the month, from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, at my house for the foreseeable future.

For more information about the Dales Group, contact Lesley direct on:

[If any other members have news items about their local group - please let me know and I'll publicise it!  send to: localgroups@ukcps.co.uk ]

Liz Bennett - Rootstein Hopkins Drawing Competition

Congratulations to UKCPS member, Liz Bennett, who has sent in the following report:
I have relatively recently taken up cp, and my printmaking tutor saw some of them and suggested I submit them to the Rootstein Hopkins drawing competition. This is a competition/exhibition exclusively for drawings, made by people who are taking part time art courses in London.

I submitted one - a street scene in Porto - and it has been accepted, and selected to be in the brochure for the exhibition.
I suspect this is because it is the only cp drawing they received; it is certainly the only one in the brochure. It may well be the first that has ever been submitted for this prize.

The exhibition runs in May and June and prizes will be awarded by Maggie Hambling, who is the chair of the judging panel. I doubt very much that I will win a prize as I have seen the quality of the competition! But I think it is good for cp that it will be there.
