"Moments in Time"
Tuesday 20th May to Saturday 14th June
For the first time ever (despite having been together for almost 40 years!),
Malcom Cudmore and his wife Lorry are having a joint exhibition at
The Fisher Theatre in Bungay.
Starting with an evening opening on Tuesday 20th May it runs through to the end of Saturday 14th June, the exhibition will feature Lorry's ceramics, most of Malcom's large coloured pencil paintings on wooden panels and a few smaller works including the framed
"epic" Bungay Panorama picture
and
Little Toby Dreams of Albrecht Durer
which won the UKCPS President's award
at the UK Coloured Pencil Society 2014 Open International Exhibition.
They would love to see you at the opening evening between
6.00 pm and 8.00 pm on Tuesday 20th May -
where they'll be happy to offer you a drink and a crisp!
If you can't make it to the opening night, the exhibition is open from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm Monday to Saturday and from 6.00 pm on days when there is an event in the theatre. The Fisher Theatre is a well used, multi-use venue and occasionally the gallery is used for meetings and not open for viewing - so it is always worth checking (especially if you are travelling any distance) that the exhibition is fully open before you make a special journey.

and the following weekend 31st May/1st June.
A Trick in the Tale
2 Anchor Cottages
Wainford Road
Bungay, Suffolk NR35 1TA
United Kingdom
With most of his large coloured pencil work on display at the same time in Bungay, and limited space at home he will be showing smaller plein air landscapes, figure paintings and drawings and a offering a range of giclée prints, greetings cards made from his original works and his "Yes You can Draw" DVD sets and starter kits.

plug in for the UKCPS, so hopefully we'll get some free publicity from it.
It should hit the newsagents early November, so keep an eye out!

Bev Lewis - New Derwent Paper
Congratulations to UKCPS Signature member, Bev Lewis, whose lovely picture of a Rhinoceros features on the front covers of the pads of Derwent's newly launched range of watercolour papers.
Derwent have launched the paper as follows:-
Derwent have launched the paper as follows:-
Derwent launch new Watercolour Paper
Derwent’s new beautifully smooth natural wove Watercolour Paper has been especially developed for use with water-soluble pencils, but it can also team up with all types of water-soluble media; particularly Derwent’s new Artbar range and their Inktense Blocks.
The superior smooth texture of the new Derwent Watercolour Paper makes it incredibly versatile; it enhances your pencil work whether wet or dry, and is ideal for intricate watercolour paintings as well as even washes of colour, or a combination of the two!
The heavy weight 300gsm paper responds well to washes but Derwent recommend that the paper is stretched prior to use if a particularly large area is to be covered or a heavy wash used.
The new Watercolour Paper is available in pads in the most popular sizes ranging from A2 to A5. Each pad contains 12 sheets of 300gsm, white, acid free watercolour paper and features a watercolour drawing of a Rhino by animal artist Bev Lewis (UKCPS) on the cover. Prices start at £5.99 for an A5 pad ranging to £22.99 for A2.
For more information on Derwent’s new Watercolour Paper and their range of water-soluble drawing media visit www.pencils.co.uk

The Complete Colored Pencil Book - review
UKCPS Signature Member, Pauline Longley, [see other posts re Pauline], has read and hereby reviews the new version of Bernard Paoulin's book: 'The Complete Colored Pencil Book' [see my post of 8th August] for fellow readers of this blog:
Title: The Complete Colored Pencil Book
Author: Bernard Aimé Poulin
Publisher: North Light Books
Originally published in 1992
New Revised edition 2011
Bernard’s original book first inspired me to buy a complete set of artist coloured pencils and have a go. Ten years on I still enjoy browsing the pages for inspiration and marvel at his beautiful portrayal of children. The new revised edition has a few picture changes and the layout a little more eye catching but the text information is much the same.
For those who don’t have a copy of the original, this book is ideally suited for the beginner as well as those with more experience. It gives advice on types of pencil, drawing surfaces and useful tools as well as demonstration on techniques: layering, burnishing, creating darks and working from photographs. There are examples of other coloured pencil artists work as well as plenty of Bernard’s own.
This is a book I would not be without.
