Congratulations to UKCPS Member, Victoria Parsons, who has two CP works shortlisted for the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2013 Competition.
Victoria has sent in this report:-
Two of my coloured pencil paintings were selected from over 1,400 International entries, which according to the BBC Wildlife Magazine, was a record number of entrants. There are 8 Categories in the Competition, and an overall winner.
The categories cover all wildlife in the UK and worldwide. The first image is in the World Mammal Category, and shows multiple images of my favourite animal, the Wolf. The images are worked on a black pastel paper with pure coloured pencils.
The second image is of an Indonesian Tiger, and is titled "Indonesian Prince". This coloured pencil painting is in the endangered species category.
The wolf image was constructed using drawings and colour notes that I had taken on site. I am a core member of The Anglian Wolf Society, where I work during the week to help other core members to look after the pack. At the moment, I am unable, due to competition rules, to send you the images. However, after the final judging which takes place in May, I will then be able to send them to you.
Just a quick note, On the 4th August, I am running a Workshop at The Anglian Wolf Centre in Bedfordshire. The day course is entitled "Art and Photography Day", and will be run by myself and a very talented Cambridge Photographer, Jim Gintner.
As well as tuition in all types of coloured pencil techniques and the techniques of Photography, the day will include a walk with one of the female wolves in the pack. This is a rare opportunity to get in close contact with these beautiful, graceful animals. There will be unlimited photo opportunities throughout the day. The cost of the day will be £50.00. All the proceeds from this workshop will go to wolf conservation.
For further details of the Workshop, I can be contacted by email, victoriaparsons51@hotmail.com, vickimoonwolf@gmail.com or phone 01788 822938.
